Data are never fully objective. They are a digital shadow of our imperfect, historical reality. They record our decisions, our processes and, by extension, our conscious and unconscious biases. Historical employment data for the technology industry reflects its male dominance. Real estate rental data may reflect decades of tacit segregation.
