Traditional machine learning can be compared to working with an extremely capable but very young and inexperienced analyst. In order for him to do his job, you must first do a huge amount of preparatory work for him. You have to analyze the raw data and manually point out to him which features (traits) he should pay attention to. How do artificial neural networks work, or how do we try to digitally mimic the human brain?
The heart and computational machinery of Deep Learning are artificial neural networks, or mathematical models, loosely inspired by the structure and functioning of the human brain.
Our brain is made up of billions of simple cells, called neurons, which are connected in an unimaginably complex network. We learn by strengthening or weakening the connections (synapses) between these neurons in response to stimuli from the outside world.
An artificial neural network works on a similar principle. It consists of thousands or millions of simple computing units, called artificial neurons, which are arranged in a series of successive layers.
